Bali Yoga Retreat

MAY 9th - 15th 2024

Join me in Bali -MAY 9 -15th

Are you looking for a unique and life-changing experience? Look no further than Bali, the stunning island paradise that captured my heart and soul back in 1992. For 12 unforgettable years, I called Bali home, and it became a part of who I am today.

As a young parent raising my half-Indonesian children, I started a successful clothing business that flourished in the vibrant local community. Bali holds a special place in my heart, and I'm thrilled to be able to share that with you.

Back in the 90s, Bali had no yoga retreats or vegan cafes. But I had a dream of bringing these transformative experiences to this beautiful island. And now, I'm living that dream by running my 9th yoga retreat.

Join me in Bali for a life-changing experience where you'll deepen your practice, nourish your body with delicious vegan meals, and connect with a community of like-minded individuals. Let Bali transform you, just like it transformed me.

3 Things I learnt whilst on my Yoga Retreat in Bali.

Where do I start, as I learn so much when I'm away and teaching?

Gratitude -

To be grateful - is all the talk at the moment, especially on Social Media. Be grateful for what you have!!! We hear this all the time. People on Instagram say how grateful they are for their lives, which is fantastic, but what I love about the people of Bali is that they celebrate Gratitude daily through Rituals and not through words but through offerings to the gods to keep them safe.

They place these offerings at the front of their houses, on their motorbikes, and in their cars, everywhere you see offerings.

The offerings are a sacred form of Gratitude, for what is, a wish for peace and abundance in the world. They represent the Balinese people's devotion to their (Hindu) gods, but at the core, these offerings are so much more. It takes a village to make them and is a constant practice. The time and effort taken to prepare the canang sari offerings honor a daily ritual of self-sacrifice, a spirit of thankfulness, and significant attention to detail. These values translate into everything they do and everything they are.

Women are traditionally in charge of assembling canang sari. Multiple generations of women seated together over an array of little square baskets are not uncommon in the villages.

As more women join the workforce in Bali, it's common for locals to purchase canang sari from specialized vendors at the local markets. Although this means some of the rituals of creating offerings are lost, women remain the primary overseers of the process, not only in selecting offerings but also in their placement and accompanying prayer.

Conclusion: My conclusion is that Gratitude comes from being, creating rituals, and repeating simple tasks daily.

2. Trust in me as a Teacher and Leader

I have never thought of myself as a leader.  As a teacher of Yoga - Yes, but a leader, no, that hasn’t sat well with me in the past.

However, being on this retreat and having people who didn’t know me and were trusting me, not knowing what to expect, was huge. I felt honored, and I have been a teacher and a leader of Yoga for over 25 years, I do know my craft, and it’s vital that we recognize what we have learned and the knowledge we have acquired through a consistent path of learning.

3.  Daily Practice

I knew the value of daily practice, but I have to say this group showed me in one week the impact that it can have on you. Nearly everyone arrived with nervousness about how they would get through practicing 3/4 hours of Yoga every day for 7 days… The first few days are tough, your body is opening, and it feels sore and tight and can be a little uncomfortable.

By day 7, everyone, and I mean everyone, there was a real mixture of ages and abilities. We had 21 years and 74 years, yet by the end of the retreat, all had found their way, and the last session flowed.

Daily practice is the key.  Consistency. Not the length of the practice but the consistency of it is a daily ritual. I really look forward to sharing the next Bali Retreat in 2023 with you.
