Walk barefoot on the beach for the brain and to enhance your mood

Aside from the beautiful view of the ocean, the open skies, the vast feeling of space and the sound of the waves, as soon as you arrive at the beach, you immediately feel less stressed than before.  

However, there is another benefit to walking along the beach at the water's edge, which is the benefits of the negative ions. Don't be fooled by the name; there is nothing harmful or unhealthy about negative ions. 

Negative ions are beneficial for the human body. Negative ions are abundant in nature, especially around waterfalls, on the ocean surf, at the beach and widespread in mountains and forests.

Negative ions are particles with a negative electrical charge. They are natural mood-boosters. They're produced in abundance moving water –and they boost serotonin in the brain, which boosts mood. So, taking a walk along the beach is much more than just for exercise. It's actually for brain health, your immune system and your nervous system.  

Here are just a few things that negative ions can help with.

·       They revitalize cell metabolism.

·       They enhance immune function.

·       They purify the blood.

·       They balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion.

The most crucial benefit of negative ions is that they clear the air of airborne allergens such as pollen, mould spores, bacteria and viruses.

OK, so there you have it. We are so lucky here in Australia to have some of the most beautiful beaches globally. Let's make the most of it and do some of our weekly walks on the beach.
